Roscommon site purchases life-saving equipment

As a result of a recent decision to close the local Roscommon County Hospital the CUBIS Industries management team decided to take matters into their own hands by purchasing a state-of-the-art heart defibrillator.
The CUBIS Roscommon site is located in the west of Ireland and the decision to close the hospital will mean that the nearest Accident & Emergency service will be over and hour and half’s drive away.
CUBIS Roscommon Operations Director, Colman Cooney, said “the absence of A&E cover was discussed with the Works Health & Safety committee and it was decided to purchase this potentially life saving device and implement a training regime which ensured adequate cover across our 24 hours shift pattern”.
Jim Mintern (EMAT Regional Manager Europe West) is seen below presenting the new defibulator to Eithne Tarmey (Cubis H&S committee member). Jim commented; “the CUBIS Roscommon site has recently surpassed 800 days without a time loss accident and it is clear that the team are leaving no stone unturned in extending their excellent safety record.”
